Lance was Lyriss's Equitation and Junior Hunter mount. Together they were year end CHJA Junior Hunter Champion, CHJAJunior Equitation Champion, Zone 8 Small Junior Hunter Champion in 2011, winner of the 2010 CHJA Junior Medal Finals and CHJA sportsmanship award, and were 5th in the CHJA medal finals 2009. Lance accumulated a champion or reserve champion at nearly every horse show he went to.

Along with being a pretty mover, he was versatile schooling dressage often. Unsurprisingly his sire simultaneously competed in show jumping and dressage. He was said to have a wonderful mind. Lance was the perfect kids horse having a fantastic brain that you could gallop around a field bare back on and pony horses with. After a long career and Lyriss changing focus on young horses and jumpers, she couldn't part with him. She decided to keep him to make sure he had the best life.  

 

Lance's role morphed into becoming FortySix&2's baby sitter to prevent him from jumping out of the field. He also has been the baby sitter to our weanlings, usually the first horse they meet away from their mom. He also gives lessons and occasionally takes Lyriss's mother on walks (even if he hasn't been sat on in 18 months)To this day, Lance had never been injected and jumped around the 3'6 juniors barefoot on many occasions. Lance has always served an important purpose to JSH.

Unfortunately Lance passed away in May 2022. He is sadly missed. We are happy that we were able to provide Lance with not only a successful career but also a long and very happy life. He played and galloped around up until the day he died. He never had an off step for his entire time with us. While we were very shocked and saddened by his unexpected passing, we are so thankful that he never had a bad day.
